The PADI Scuba Diver Referral course offers a tailored approach for individuals who wish to begin their scuba diving education locally and complete their certification elsewhere, particularly suited for those with travel plans or who prefer to dive in different locations. This course structure allows students to complete the theoretical and confined water training segments at their local dive centre and finalise their open water dives at any PADI dive centre worldwide.
Course Structure
The Referral course is divided into two main phases: theoretical learning and confined water dives completed at the student's local dive centre, followed by the completion of open water dives at a PADI dive centre of their choice.
eLearning
Participants engage with the core principles of scuba diving through online or in-person sessions, covering dive theory, safety protocols, and equipment management. This foundational knowledge prepares students for the practical aspects of diving.
Confined Water Dives
The confined water sessions allow learners to develop essential scuba skills in a controlled environment, such as buoyancy control, equipment setup, and basic underwater navigation, under the guidance of PADI-certified instructors. This phase is crucial for ensuring students are well-prepared for open water diving.
Open Water Dives
Upon completing the initial segments, students are referred to complete their open water dives at another PADI dive centre. This component enables learners to apply their skills in an open water setting, supervised by a PADI Professional, in a location that suits their personal or travel needs.
Certification
Successfully completing the open water dives leads to the PADI Scuba Diver certification, recognising the individual's ability to dive under direct supervision up to a maximum depth of 12 metres/40 feet. This certification offers a pathway to further diving education, including the PADI Open Water Diver course.
