If you've always wondered what it’s like to breathe underwater and discover the wonderous world beneath the waves, this is where it starts.The PADI Open Water Diver course is designed to give comprehensive training in scuba diving, equipping you with the knowledge and skills necessary to dive up to a maximum depth of 18 metres. This course offers a detailed introduction to scuba diving principles, techniques and safety practices required to explore and see amazing underwater envionments and life.
Course Structure
The course structure is divided into three main components: eLearning, confined water dives and open water dives. Each part is designed to build upon the previous stage to ensure a solid foundation in scuba diving.
eLearning
This covers the fundamentals of scuba diving, including dive theory, safety procedures and equipment management. This part of the course aims to establish a thorough understanding of the essential concepts and practices in scuba diving.
Confined Water Dives
This section of the course takes place in one of our local swimming pools. Here, under the supervision of a PADI instructor, you will practice and refine your scuba skills. This phase focuses on developing confidence and proficiency in basic diving techniques.
Open Water Dives
The final component involves open water dives. Here you will apply your skills at one of our local dive sites. Supervised by a PADI Professional, these dives allow you to experience real diving conditions, further solidifying your skills and confidence in underwater exploration.
Certification
Upon successful completion of the course, students are awarded the PADI Open Water Diver certification. This globally recognised certification affirms your ability to plan and execute dives serving as a gateway to more advanced diving courses and experiences.
Course Options:
- Standard Open Water Course: -This level covers everything required to complete the course. Pool sessions are on a Tuesday evening at 6:30 pm and open water sessions are once a month on a Sunday. All sessions must be booked in advance of starting the course.
- Flexible Open Water Course: - At this level in addition to everything above you also get access to our Saturday afternoon pool at 12 noon and an additional pool session. You can also take advantage of the option to book as you go additional open water dates and days. Your course also includes the option to complete the PADI Aware Speciality.
- Tailormade Open Water Course:- At this level, your course is tailor-made to fit around your requirements and your schedule.

Course Requirements
- Be at least 10 years of age.
- Be able to swim.
- Be in good physical health.
- Be accompanied by a parent or guardian if under the age of 16.

What's Included
Included in the cost of your course is:
- Full access to PADI eLearning resources.
- Aquanorth Log Book.
- Full kit hire for the duration of your course. (You will need to bring a towel, swimming costume, T shirt and shorts for the pool sessions.)
- Maximum of 4 students in a group.
- 4/5 scheduled pool sessions to complete your confined water skills, depending on the level you choose.
- 4 open water dives, done over 2 days .
