With the majority of the world's dive sites accessible only by boat, this course offers essential skills and knowledge for safely and efficiently diving from various types of boats. Whether you’re exploring a local lake or venturing into the open ocean, the Boat Diver Specialty course prepares you for a multitude of boat diving adventures.
 
Course Aims and Structure
This course aims to enhance your comfort and confidence in boat diving, covering everything from boat terminology to best practices for entering and exiting the water. It is structured to combine theoretical knowledge with practical boat diving experiences. If you want to experience the best diving the North Sea has to offer, then a Boat Diver Speciality is for you. Over the course of one classroom session and two open water dives, you’ll learn how to safely and effectively dive from a boat out in the open water. This course is a must for all divers who want to experience diving off our northeast coast, and we recommend it to all our divers.
 
Knowledge Development
The course begins with a knowledge development session that introduces participants to different types of dive boats and their specific features. You will learn about boat diving etiquette, including how to safely enter and exit the water, where to stow your gear, and how to avoid seasickness. Additionally, the session covers safety procedures and emergency protocols, ensuring you’re well-prepared for various scenarios.
 
Practical Application
The practical aspect includes two boat dives, where you'll apply the knowledge gained in the classroom. During these dives, you will practice:
Planning and executing boat dives.
Safe entry and exit techniques, considering current and equipment.
Navigating from a boat, including how to locate the boat at the end of your dive.
 
These dives aim to familiarise you with the nuances of boat diving, enhancing your overall diving experience.
 
Certification
Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive the PADI Boat Diver Specialty certification. This certification acknowledges your proficiency in boat diving, significantly broadening the scope of dive sites you can explore and enjoy.
